The Crime Investigation Bureau/Railway Protection Force (CIB/RPF) arrested a woman with liquor bottles aboard the Andaman Express (Train No. 16032). The arrest occurred between Bharatwada and Godhani stations following surveillance by the CIB unit.
Acting on a tip-off about a suspicious woman traveling with a trolley bag, the CIB and DSCR Nagpur initiated monitoring. The inspector and head constable tracked the train until it reached Nagpur station. Upon the train’s arrival at Platform No. 2 at 9:38 am, RPF Nagpur officials questioned the suspect, identified as Hemlata Harkaram Yadav, 34, of Urla, Durg, Chhattisgarh.
During the inspection, authorities found 24 bottles of imported liquor, each containing 750 ml, in the trolley bag. The total value of the seized liquor is estimated at Rs 24,300/-. The woman was taken to the RPF post in Nagpur along with the seized liquor for further action.
The State Excise Department in Nagpur was informed, and a case was registered against the woman smuggler under Section 65(a)(e) of the Liquor Prohibition Act. The case is registered as number 42/2024, and further investigation is underway.
