The Airports Authority of India has decided to suspend the re-carpeting work on the runway at Nagpur Airport until September 15. As a result, flight operations for various airlines will now continue into the afternoon. Previously, the airport was closed from 10 am to 7.30 pm for the re-carpeting work.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the Maharashtra state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, had written a letter to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol requesting the commencement of afternoon flight services at Nagpur Airport. In response to this request, the Airports Authority of India has postponed the re-carpeting work originally scheduled from July 15 to September 15. The work will be rescheduled to commence after September 15.”
