Three adolescent girls embarked on a daring journey as they escaped from a juvenile detention home in Chhattisgarh, hoping to start anew. However, their luck ran out when vigilant traffic police officers in the Lakadganj area intervened. During a routine check on Saturday, the officers signaled the girls to stop as they were riding a moped, and the driver was not wearing a helmet.

What started as a routine stop for the police turned into a much longer and more alarming situation. When the officers asked the girls to produce the registration documents for their Honda Activa moped, the girls hesitated, which only increased the officers’ suspicions.
The police alerted their superiors, and the three girls were handed over to the Lakadganj Police. There, women officers questioned them thoroughly, and as the details emerged, even the officers were stunned for a moment.
The three minor girls had escaped from a correctional home in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. According to police officials, two of the girls face murder charges and fled after locking the warden inside the correctional facility. The third one had struck friendship with the two and she also hopped on with them sensing opportunity.
Police personnel Vaishali Durugkar and Puja Puri were on duty at Wardhaman Nagar Square under Lakadganj Division on Saturday. They noticed three girls riding an Activa moped without helmet. Upon questioning, the girls provided evasive responses. As a result, the cops reported the matter to their seniors and took the girls to the police station. Further investigation revealed that the minors were reported missing from Rajnandgaon. The girls had fled after locking a warden inside the correctional facility and on way out they also stole a two- wheeler Activa. The trio also took away two mobile phones and cash.
Two of the girls were charged in a murder case registered at Police Station Basantpur, Rajnandgaon. Charges under Sections 294, 323, 394, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code were levied against one of the girls. All three minors were admitted to Correctional the Juvenile Home.
From Rajnandgaon, the three girls hit the highway as they knew search would be launched for them very soon. in Rajnandgaon. They hoped to reach Nagpur about which they knew very sketchy details. Little did they realise that their flight of fancy would crash and and put them back from where they had escaped. Fortunately for the girls, that they did not fall into wrong company or their lives might have got ruined for their lifetime.
Even the cops, post interrogation, were quite surprised at the audacity of the girls. Also that three travelled the 214 km distance on the two wheeler on the busy national highway showed the dare devilery on part of minors.
Upon being informed, Chhattisgarh Police arrived in the City and took the girls into their custody. Police Inspector of Basantpur Police Station commended the woman police personnel with an immediate cash reward for their vigilance.
