Ambazari Police have arrested a money lender from Zingabai Takli for allegedly threatening the director of an x-ray and sonography clinic and demanding ₹2.40 crore in extortion.
Narendra Vasudev Dhike (64), residing in Shivajinagar, Dharampeth, filed a complaint leading to the arrest of Manoj Vasant Hivarkar (38). Manoj, based in Zingabai Takli, faces charges under Sections 384, 385, 386, 387, and 506(2) of the IPC.
Narendra owns Imagine Point clinic on West High Court Road. He encountered operational issues with his equipment and sought financial assistance, eventually turning to Manoj for a ₹30 lakh loan at 10% monthly interest.
Narendra paid ₹77 lakh over time. On May 10, accompanied by two others, Manoj demanded an additional ₹2.40 crore, threatening harm to Narendra’s family when he couldn’t comply. Fearing for their safety, Narendra reported the incident to Ambazari police.
