The social service unit of the crime branch rescued a minor during a raid on a flesh trade den in the Nandanvan slums. Following the raid, police arrested a couple operating the den. The two individuals, identified as Akash Somkuwar and Prachi Pal, had been exploiting the minor in the flesh trade. The raid was carried out by a team led by Senior Inspector Kavita Isarkar, who had pinpointed the location based on a tip-off.
The cops had laid a trap by sending in a decoy customer. During the action, they seized mobile phones and other incriminating materials. An offence was registered at the Nandanvan police station.
The city police continued their crackdown on narcotics by arresting a drug peddler, identified as Vaibhav alias Vipin Gupta, during an operation based on a tip-off at Matey Square on Friday. Mephedrone (MD) powder worth Rs. 37,000 was seized from his possession. Gupta was waiting for a customer when he walked into the police trap. Along with the narcotics, police also seized Gupta’s cellphone and bike. He was handed over to Rana Pratap Nagar police station for further action.
