Some residents living in Sampat Layout in Dabha sighted a leopard on Sunday at 10 pm while taking a walk after dinner, including women. They were surprised and quickly ran back home. Sensation pre- vailed in Dabha area because residents are worried about their children.
It’s not unusual for residents near Gorewada jungle to spot leopards. This also occured again on Sunday night behind Centre Point School. Mamata Wagh, who was out walking, said she and other women ran home upon learning a leopard was nearby.
The residents alerted other persons in the area, and afterward, no one ventured outside. Some people reviewed CCTV footage on their premised and saw the leopard passing three to four rounds through Welcome Society and Woodland Society . The residents mentioned that leopards from Gorewada jungle enter the neighborhoods because there are more stray dogs present.
They requested the forest department to ensure the safety of the residents. The divisional forest officer from Ambazari visited the area and assured them that the department would raise the wall’s height and install fencing this year, as conveyed by Shatanik Bhagwat, divisional manager of the Gorewada project.
