Maha Metro’s service is facing frequent breakdowns, raising concerns about the reliability of Nagpur Metro. On Sunday, the Aqua Line connecting Prajapati Nagar with Lokmanya Nagar was nonfunctional for about 40 minutes, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
Passengers reported that trains on the Aqua Line stopped at around 4:40 pm and resumed at 5:20 pm, while officials claimed the breakdown lasted only 15 minutes. The issue was attributed to a signalling failure near Bansi Nagar metro station.
This recent incident marks the third breakdown in just over a month. On July 5, a technical fault disrupted traffic on the Orange Line for 1.45 hours. Earlier, on June 17, service was halted due to the collapse of a hoarding during a squall.
Nagpur Metro has also faced construction issues. A local media report revealed that the foundation of a pier near the Sitabuldi Metro Interchange Station suffered damage due to gushing waters from the Nag River, exposing friction piles. This damage is currently being repaired by Maha Metro.
