In a disturbing turn of events, a young woman was threatened with an acid attack by her ex-boyfriend after she filed a police complaint against him. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar Police Station.
Following the 22-year-old woman’s complaint, police registered a case against three individuals: the ex-boyfriend, Pratik Laxman Nagfase (24), a resident of Bhumi Layout, Samtanagar, and his accomplices Ritesh Deshmukh and Shubham Savarkar.
The woman, who works at an IT company in MIHAN, had been in a live-in relationship with Pratik for the past six years. According to police sources, Pratik had promised to marry her and used this promise to establish a physical relationship.
In April, when the woman visited Pratik’s house to discuss marriage, he and his family refused. Consequently, she filed a complaint at Kapil Nagar Police Station, leading to charges of rape and other offenses against Pratik. This enraged him.
On Sunday evening, around 5 pm, while the woman was riding her two-wheeler, Pratik and his friends followed her and intercepted her on Uppalwadi Road. It was then that the accused threatened to ruin her face with an acid attack. Terrified, the victim reported the incident to her family, and another complaint was subsequently registered with Kapil Nagar Police Station.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. The woman and her family are now living in fear following the acid attack threat, raising renewed concerns about the safety of women in the city.
