On the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima, artists spanning literature, drama, and painting congregated at ‘Vishnuji Ki Rasoi’ this Sunday. This gathering marked the inauguration of ‘Nagpuri Artist Katta,’ an initiative aimed at uniting Nagpur’s diverse artistic community, fostering creativity, and providing a platform for artistic expression.
The event commenced with the esteemed presence of 88-year-old veteran artist Madhubhai Joshi and Mahesh Paturkar, paying homage to Ajit Diwadkar, director of Diwadkar’s Ajit Bakery, a revered figure in the artistic community.
Chef Vishnu Manohar, in his introductory remarks, shared the inspiration behind launching ‘Nagpuri Artist Katta,’ emphasizing the revival of Nagpur’s cultural movement. The initiative is a collaborative effort by Shyam Pethkar, Naresh Gadekar, Rajesh Chitnis, and Vishnu Manohar to nurture artistic exchange and creativity.
During the event, Madhubhai Joshi reminisced about past artistic endeavors, while Mahesh Paturkar fondly recalled his experiences at Dhanwate Rangmandir, expressing delight at the gathering of artists representing diverse fields such as singing, music, and literature.
Highlighting the literary aspect of the occasion, Devendra Dodke presented his play ‘Bandhan,’ with Vijay Jathe moderating the session and delivering the vote of thanks.
