Looking into the woes of the common man related to chockage of sewerage lines, Dr. Abhijeet Choudhari Municipal Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has taken the initiative of procuring 4 more suction cum jetting machines on hire especially for monsoon. Out of these 4 vehicles, 3 have already reached the city and the fourth is expected to arrive in another 10 days. Initially the 10 administrative zones were having 1 jetting machine each. In the year 2010, NMC had called tender for 2 suction machines of 3000 litres capacity for the first time. In the year 2011-12, tender for 2 recyclers were called. The city was having 2 recyclers till 2018 which was later augmented to 5 by the year 2023. Apart from the same, 3 small suction cum jetting machines were also hired by NMC for tackling narrow and congested lanes in the year 2024. However taking into consideration the heavy siltation after the rains and for giving respite to the people from accumulation of filthy water in their premises, Municipal Commissioner has decided to hire 3 big (10000 litres) and 1 small ( 3000 litres) suction cum jetting machine for the city. This implies that this week Monday onwards there would be 21 such machines plying within the city. The 11 vehicles would be provided to the zones as per schedule. The Municipal Commissioner has asked the zonal officers to use the machines judiciously and solve maximum number of complaints.
