Following relentless rainfall in the district, most reservoirs are now at full capacity, prompting significant water releases. The Totladoh Dam in Ramtek Tehsil has opened 16 gates, the Lower Vena Dam (Wadgaon) in Umred Tehsil has opened 21 gates, and the Nand Dam has opened 7 gates.
Currently, a total of 1,867.7 cubic meters of water is being discharged from these reservoirs. The release from Totladoh Dam is contributing to increased water levels at the Navegaon Khairi Dam.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Pench River Dam at Chaurai is also at full capacity, leading to its discharge. The downstream Totladoh (Meghdoot) Reservoir is 83% full, prompting the opening of all 14 gates to a height of 0.3 meters, with a total release of 443 cubic meters.
Meanwhile, the Lower Vena Dam’s water level has risen to 79.54% of its capacity due to the ongoing releases from the Nand Dam. To manage the increased inflow, 19 gates of the Lower Vena Dam have been opened to 50 centimeters, and 2 gates to 25 centimeters, resulting in a total release of 884.3 cubic meters. The Nand Dam itself is approximately 56% full, with continuous rainfall in its catchment area causing water levels to rise and prompting the opening of all 7 gates to 75 centimeters.
