The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Fire & Emergency Services Department is cracking down on fire safety regulations by sealing two gaming zones, V Play Gaming Zone in Manish Nagar and City Game Zone at MD Ginger Mall in Jaripatka, on Wednesday, as a result of an enforcement action initiated under the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006, according to a local report.
According to the report, Officiating Chief Fire Officer BP Chandankhede, Senior Police Inspectors from Jaripatka and Beltarodi police stations were informed about the action and have been instructed to take strict action under the law if the gaming zones fail to comply with the norms.
The action was conducted under the direction of BP Chandankhede and Tushar Barahate, Civil Lines Fire Station Officer.
A senior fire official revealed that the department’s next move will be to inspect and take action against 27 rooftop restaurants in Nagpur, with a proposal to seal them already submitted to Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari.
The report added that on July 2, the Fire Department declared both gaming zones, V Play Gaming Zone and City Game Zone, unsafe after identifying significant firefighting shortcomings in their buildings. Despite this warning, the premises failed to implement the required safety measures, managed by Akshay Chavan and Prakash Sonule, respectively, and owned by Shyam Shivhare.
The decision to take action against the rooftop restaurants comes after the gaming zones, V Play Gaming Zone and City Game Zone, were deemed “extremely dangerous” due to non-compliance with fire prevention and life safety measures. Authorities have deemed it necessary to protect both people and property, and have instructed the immediate evacuation of the gaming zones.
