Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University authorities have failed to fill up a vacant position reserved for the Principal in the Scheduled Tribe category. The vacancy was created following selection of Dr Ramdas Atram as the Vice Chancellor of Dr B R Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Mhou in Madhya Pradesh.
Dr Atram became VC of the University about one and half years back. As the designation changed he vacated the post as Senate member of RTMNU. Dr Chetan Meshram, Principal of S N Mor College of Arts. Commerce and Science, Tumsar in Bhandara district was the lone candidate who was eligible for the position as RTMNU Senate member I this category.
Dr Masram contested the election against Dr Atram and lost. Following Dr Atram selection as a member of VC, the vacancy was created in the RTMNU Senate in this category. The vacant position was not filled in by the University for the reasons best known to the authorities.
Dr Masram, being the only eligible candidate for the post, should have been immediately nominated the Senate member in the vacancy created by Dr Atram. Dr Masram fulfils all the criteria required to be appointed under the category.
When contacted Dr Masram said that he made representations to the university authorities several times. There was no response from them.
Dr Masram holds the required experience and other eligibility criteria for nomination on the post. He is a former member of the RTMNU Senate and is the only candidate eligible for the post.
