In response to requests from animal lovers, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has allotted three new feeding spots for stray dogs in the Sonegaon area. This decision follows recent conflicts between residents and animal lovers, as well as incidents involving stray dogs. The new feeding locations will be at Pragati Complex, Manish Layout, and Parate Nagar.
A senior official from the NMC stated that these three new feeding spots were established in response to requests from local animal lovers and feeders. “The incidents of man-animal conflict are very high at Sonegaon”. “Following requests from animal lovers, we have designated these spots to help mitigate man-animal conflicts. By establishing specific locations, we hope to reduce incidents and encourage people to be more mindful when visiting these areas. Previously, stray dogs were fed at various locations, leading to conflicts, but now there will be designated spots for this purpose,” the official explained. The official also mentioned that there are 13 feeding spots throughout the city, established in accordance with Supreme Court directions. This development has been well-received by many animal lovers, who also emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene at these locations
