Nagpur Municipal Corporation has proposed to develop a ’Food Street’ near Hotel Radisson Blue flyover, as part of promoting the safe and clean food system proposed by the Government of India.
Municipal Commissioner and NMC Administrator Dr Abhijit Chaudhari inspected various locations in Nagpur on Wednesday to select the place. The Union Government plans to develop 100 such Food Streets in the country. In Maharashtra Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, and Thane Municipal Corporations have been selected for developing the Food Streets.
Executive Engineer Alpana Patne, Medical Officer Dr Deepak Selokar, Deputy Engineer Pankaj Parashar, Rajiv Gautam, and Architect Rashi Bawankule were present.
A total of 20 stalls will be available for the food lovers. Modern technology will be used for the safety and cleanliness of the Food Street. A grant of Rs one crore has been made available under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), informs a press note issued by the NMC.
Dr Chaudhari issued directions to prepare a proposal for the proposed Food Street.
