Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that the country’s first electric elevated bus service will be launched in Nagpur. This special bus service will operate over a distance of 50 km on the ring road in Nagpur. The bus is being developed through a joint venture between renowned automobile companies Tata and Skoda. This bus will be 18 meters long, and passengers will be provided with amenities similar to those on a flight.
Nitin Gadkari stated that the fare for this electric bus service will be 30 percent less than the diesel-operated bus services run by the ST or Municipal Corporation. He also mentioned that this will be the first experiment of an electric bus service on an elevated route in the country, set to cover a 50 km stretch on Nagpur’s busy ring road.
