In a recent meeting at the Police Headquarters, Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Singhal announced new regulations for Ganeshotsav Mandals across the city. Mandals are now required to submit an undertaking on Rs 100 stamp paper affirming that their Ganesh idols are made of clay, not Plaster of Paris (POP). This directive comes from the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Aanchal Goyal and Dr. Gajendra Mahalle, Deputy Municipal Solid Commissioner for Waste Management, also attended the meeting. It was decided that criminal proceedings will be initiated against any Ganesh Mandal that fails to comply with these regulations, even if they have submitted the undertaking. Such mandals will be blacklisted and barred from hosting celebrations the following year. The undertaking will also include consent for criminal action against all Ganesh Mandal office-bearers if violations occur.
Dr. Singhal emphasized the importance of adhering to these new rules and instructed strict enforcement of criminal proceedings for any violations.
