Nagpur Municipal Corporation will carry out an Adult BCG Vaccination Campaign from September 4. The vaccination is a part of the eradication of tuberculosis under the –’TB-free India’ mission.
NMC’s Additional Commissioner Anchal Goel has appealed to the people to cooperate in the administration of the vaccine, which will be given to all above the age of 18 years.
The campaign is being conducted across the nation under the aegis of the Indian National TB Eradication Programme and ICMR. A population of 1.20 crore in all 40 districts of Maharashtra are expected to be covered under the campaign. Those who suffered from TB during the last five years, citizens above 60 years of age, smokers, those in close contact with TB patients, diabetics and those with BMI (Body-Mass Index) below 18 are prominent persons to be vaccinated. The Medical Officers, ANM, GNM and other related employees of NMC’s healhth department have been trained for the campaign.
