In a significant development poised to drive industrial growth in the underdeveloped Vidarbha region, the District Industry Centre has approved the establishment of a garment cluster at the Butibori Industrial Estate. This move is expected to open numerous opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the area.
The proposed garment cluster, with an anticipated investment of ₹9.7 crore, will see the State government contributing 90% of the funds, while the remaining 10% will be sourced from women entrepreneurs. This initiative, led by a group of women entrepreneurs, aims to create job opportunities for rural women in the region.
The project, which has also received approval from the state-level apex committee, includes the allocation of a land parcel specifically for this purpose. Industrialists Arun Khobragade and Sudhir Bagde have been spearheading this project since 2029 through their non-profit organization, Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Innovation Council (BASIC).
