In a significant development poised to drive industrial growth in the underdeveloped Vidarbha region, the District Industry Centre has approved the establishment of a garment cluster at the Butibori Industrial Estate. This move is expected to open numerous opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the area.
The proposed garment cluster, with an anticipated investment of ?9.7 crore, will see the State government contributing 90% of the funds, while the remaining 10% will be sourced from women entrepreneurs. This initiative, led by a group of women entrepreneurs, aims to create job opportunities for rural women in the region.
The project, which has also received approval from the state-level apex committee, includes the allocation of a land parcel specifically for this purpose. Industrialists Arun Khobragade and Sudhir Bagde have been spearheading this project since 2029 through their non-profit organization, Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Innovation Council (BASIC).
