An unusual theft in Maharashtra’s Amravati has gone viral after a man was caught on camera carrying away a large water cooler on his shoulder from a busy city street in broad daylight.
The incident took place near Rajkamal Chowk, one of the busiest commercial hubs in Amravati. According to reports, the water cooler had been installed outside a gym by owner Sushant Rhode to provide drinking water to the public.
CCTV footage shows the suspect arriving at the spot during the afternoon and surveying the surroundings before making his move. He then disconnected the cooler from the water connection, detached it from the installation point and hoisted the appliance onto his shoulder. Despite weighing an estimated 35 to 40 kilograms, the man was seen calmly walking away with the cooler through crowded streets without attracting attention or suspicion from pedestrians or motorists passing by.
The theft was discovered later when the gym owner reached the premises and noticed that the cooler had disappeared and the connected water pipes had been damaged. After reviewing the CCTV footage, he found that the entire incident had been recorded by nearby security cameras.
Further examination of surveillance footage reportedly showed the suspect walking through Rajkamal Chowk carrying the cooler on his shoulder despite heavy traffic and a large number of people in the area. The fact that no one questioned or stopped him has sparked discussions about public awareness and vigilance in crowded urban spaces.
A complaint has been registered with the Kotwali Police Station, and investigators are analysing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to establish the identity of the suspect and trace his movements after the theft. The incident has since attracted widespread attention on social media because of the unusual manner in which the theft was carried out.
