A truck transporting 342 LPG cylinders was allegedly stolen from outside a gas bottling plant in Chandrapur’s MIDC Khutala area, with the total value of the vehicle and its cargo estimated at Rs 21.14 lakh. The theft was reported under the jurisdiction of Padoli Police Station, which has registered an offence against unidentified persons.
According to police, the truck owner, Vaibhav Khandare, a resident of Samadhi Ward in Chandrapur, operates LPG transportation services through a Warora-based logistics company and has been associated with the business for the last four years. On July 12, the Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration number MH-34 BG-1600 was loaded with LPG cylinders at the bottling plant and parked outside the facility at around 12.30 pm.
The vehicle was discovered missing later that night when the driver alerted the transporter at around 10.45 pm. Efforts to trace the truck and its cargo proved unsuccessful, prompting a complaint to the police. The stolen load consisted of 332 domestic LPG cylinders and 10 commercial cylinders. While the cylinders were collectively valued at around Rs 11.14 lakh, the truck itself was estimated to be worth approximately Rs 10 lakh.
Padoli Police have launched an investigation to trace the missing vehicle and identify those responsible for the theft.
