As part of its anti-drug crackdown, Sitabuldi Police raided a room at Centre Point Hotel in Ramdaspeth and detained three youths from Gondia for allegedly consuming MD (Mephedrone). The police also recovered a quantity of the banned substance during the operation.
The raid was conducted following a tip-off received by investigators about suspected drug use taking place at the hotel. Acting on the information, a police team reached the premises and carried out the operation in the presence of independent witnesses.
Officials said the three men were found inside the room and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. They were identified as Mayank Agrawal, Parag Agrawal and Kunal Nakhate, all residents of Gondia district. During the search, police seized 1.640 grams of MD powder from their possession. Preliminary inquiries reportedly revealed that the accused had jointly procured around 2.5 grams of the drug, a portion of which had allegedly been consumed before the raid.
The trio was taken for medical examination, and blood and urine samples were collected and sent for forensic testing to confirm drug consumption. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were later produced before a local court, which remanded them to three days of police custody.
Investigators are now working to trace the source of the seized narcotics and identify the individuals involved in supplying the drug. Police are also probing whether the case has links to a wider drug distribution network operating in Nagpur and neighbouring districts.
