The Union Government has decided to rename Port Blair, the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as Sri Vijaya Puram.
The decision reflects the government’s intent to honour the historical and cultural ties of the region and draw inspiration from the ancient Sr Vijaya Empire.
