The indefinite strike of Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) received an overwhelming response. The work of issuing licences and other permits, and registration of vehicles has come to a grinding halt. The strike entered its second day on Wednesday with a deserted look at the RTO office.
The RTO employees across the state went on indefinite strike on Tuesday. They staged demonstrations but did not attend the office.
The demands are long pending and are mainly related to recruitment policy, revision of salaries, etc. A large number of customers had to return. A little work is being carried out only with the help of contractual employees.
The Road Transport Department has constituted a committee to negotiate with the employees’ union.
