The second edition of the Indian Oil Race Across India, the longest cycling race in the country, will take place starting October 10.
During a press conference, Ravindra Paranjpe announced that the challenging race will begin on October 10 from Srinagar.
Last year, the city’s ultracyclist Amit Samarth completed the race in a record time of under 7 hours.
“This is the second year and we have teams from abroad as well. Teams from Poland, Kenya and the US will be taking part in this year’s race,” Paranjpe proudly stated.
“Covering an extraordinary distance of 3,758 kilometres, this race will test the endurance of participants as they ride through 12 states, confronting diverse landscapes, climates, and terrain,” he added.
The race is recognized by the World Ultracycling Association (WUCA) and serves as a qualifying event for the Race Across America (RAAM).
Jeetendra Nayak, Project Director, stated, “This year, participants from the Indian Navy, Air Force, and Police Department are also taking part. The race will start from Srinagar and end at Kanyakumari, passing through the states of Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and others.”
Dr. Amit Samarth and Atul Gupta, Regional Manager of Indian Oil, were also present at the press conference.
