Top Seed Shaunak Badole won the Nagpur District Rapid Chess Championship held at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur on 29th September 2024. The championship was organised by Chess Association Nagpur in association with Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation to select the Nagpur District players for participation in theMaharashtra State Rapid Chess Championship to be held at Nagpur on 26th October 2024 and 27th October 2024.
Shaunak scored 7 ½ points out of Eight. Rushikesh Lohit and Ayush Ramteke scored 7 points each but were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively based on their tie break scores. Sahajveer Singh Maras, Yuval Sunil Mohurle, Kushagra Paliwal and Rudra Dhole scored 6 ½ points and were placed 4th to 7th in the final list based on their tie break scores. Shaunak Badole and Rushikesh Lohit will represent Nagpur District in the Maharashtra State Rapid Championship.
The prizes were distributed at the hands of Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary Chess Association Nagpur and FA Shiva Iyer, Chief Arbiter. The Top two finishers were awarded Trophies whereas the players finishing from 3rd to 10th place were awarded Medals in the championship. In addition to the main prizes, age group prizes were also distributed to top finishers in Under-7,9,11,13, 15 and Veteran Group. A special consolation medal was awarded to Harsh Dayal.
FA Shiva Iyer was the Chief Arbiter for the event who was assisted by FA Amit Tembhurne, FA Bharti Dhote, SNA Shrikant Bagde, SNA Prayas Amabde, Deep Jure and Prathamesh Machave.
