To make it easier for passengers ahead of the Railway Minister’s first visit to Nagpur during Dussehra, Central Railway opened five ticket counters. However, unexpectedly, the number of counters was reduced to just two the very next day, causing long queues for travellers at the booking windows.
With both cash and digital payments being handled at the same counters, passengers may encounter even more difficulties as the 60-day Advance Reservation Period (ARP) approaches. Due to high demand, tickets are expected to sell out quickly, putting many travellers in a tough situation.
Concerns are growing over the Commercial Department’s focus on digital payments as part of the “Digital India” initiative. While digital transactions have benefits, the complicated refund process for canceled tickets remains a major issue, leaving customers frustrated with delays in repayments.
As the festive season is approaching, it’s important for the Railways to tackle these problems and make the travel experience better for passengers.
