The MIDC Police have arrested an employee of Ujjwal Ispat Private Limited for allegedly murdering the company’s security guard after a dispute at the gate earlier this month. In a shocking turn of events, the company’s owners, Suresh Chandani and Dharmesh Suresh Chandani, have also been accused of conspiring to cover up the crime and tampering with evidence.
The incident took place on October 8, 2024, when the accused, Manohar alias Manoj Baban Bende, aged 42, from Watkheda, Babhulgaon, Yavatmal district, attacked 50-year-old security guard Kamlesh Ramsujan Patel with an iron rod. The assault reportedly followed a disagreement over Patel’s refusal to open the gate of the factory.
Following the attack, Patel was admitted to a hospital under a false name, allegedly on the instructions of Suresh and Dharmesh Chandani. Despite medical efforts, Patel succumbed to his injuries on October 10, 2024. The initial police report classified the incident as an accidental death, but a subsequent investigation uncovered a deliberate attempt to cover up the murder.
Further investigations revealed that the accused had removed the security cameras and the old DVR from the premises to destroy any evidence of the crime. They also allegedly assisted Manohar Bende in fleeing the company by providing him with financial aid.
The MIDC Police have now registered a case against Suresh Chandani and Dharmesh Suresh Chandani under relevant sections of the BNS for tampering with evidence and conspiring to obstruct justice. The main accused, Manohar alias Manoj Baban Bende, has been arrested, and a detailed investigation into the incident is ongoing.
