Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari held discussions with hoteliers to address the important issue of increasing voter turnout. He proposed offering discounts to voters over three days as an incentive. The administration has been attempting various strategies to boost voting percentages but has seen limited success. As a result, the Commissioner explored the idea of partnering with hoteliers and restaurant owners to provide concessions to those who participate in the upcoming assembly elections.
During a meeting at the NMC Headquarters, Dr. Chaudhari suggested that voters who cast their votes should receive discounts on their bills for three days after the election. He made this appeal to the office bearers of the Hotel Association, Nagpur Unit, which included Tejinder Singh Renu, Rushi Tuli, Ajay Jaiswal, Tarun Motwani, Manoj Awchat, Vasudev Trivedi, Vishal Jaiswal, Nitin Trivedi, Vinod Joshi, Vijay Chourasia, Harmanjit Singh Baweja, and Indrajit Singh Baweja.
The Municipal Commissioner proposed that hotel owners encourage voters to fulfill their duty to vote on November 20. They can display banners urging people to cast their votes and offer discounts for three days after the election at their establishments. Additional Municipal Commissioner Ajay Charthankar, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ranjana Lade, Chief Fire Officer BP Chandankhede, and other NMC officials were also present at the meeting.
