A leisure trip turned into a nightmare for a family from Kamptee after bouncers and security guards at Dwarka Water Park near Waki village allegedly assaulted them on Sunday evening. Two women lost consciousness due to the violence and were later admitted to a government hospital. A formal complaint has been filed at the Patansawangi police outpost.
The incident occurred around 6 pm, as the park was closing for the day. Sakshi Gharote, Sonali Shinde, Vivek Shinde, Pawan Shinde, Mayur Ghatole, and their friends Shatru and Mayur had been at the park since morning. A dispute broke out between the visitors and a security guard, which quickly escalated when additional guards and bouncers joined in and allegedly attacked five members of the group. Eyewitnesses reportedly captured the altercation on mobile phones.
The victims were confined in a room inside the park for nearly an hour. Pawan Shinde and Mayur Ghatole pleaded with the staff to release them, as Sakshi and Sonali had fainted due to the assault. Calls to Khapa Police Station and Dial 112 went unanswered.
Desperate for help, Pawan contacted Nagpur Rural SP Harsh Poddar through a friend. Promptly acting on the complaint, rural police initiated an investigation. Realizing the matter had escalated, the park staff allegedly dropped the unconscious women at Patansawangi Government Hospital in an Ecosport car and fled the scene.
Local police later shifted the women to Nagpur Government Hospital for further treatment. Despite the incident falling under Khapa Police Station’s jurisdiction, no timely assistance was provided – a lapse now being questioned by the victims’ families. Sources claim a similar incident last week was downplayed due to alleged political interference, emboldening the park staff further.
