The Election Commission of India (ECI) has established fixed rates for vehicles used in the Assembly election campaigns, aiming to standardize campaign expenditures. Candidates will be charged ₹3,500 per day for jeeps, tempos, and black-yellow four-wheelers, while bullock carts are capped at ₹2,000 per day. Additionally, the Commission has set daily rates for tea, snacks, and meals served during campaigns.
In preparation for the elections, a significant number of private vehicles have already been booked, with some reserved through November 20. The Commission has also set daily expense limits on passenger vehicles, rickshaws, and meal provisions, which election inspectors will verify closely.
Candidates are permitted a maximum campaign expenditure of ₹40 lakh. Larger vehicles, accommodating up to 40 passengers, are set at ₹9,000 per day. If evidence shows that candidates have exceeded these financial limits, it could jeopardize the elected position of those involved.
