Demonstrating exceptional honesty, Police Constable Mayur Liladhar Kawade of the Quick Response Team (QRT) went above and beyond by locating the owner of a lost sum of Rs 26,843 and returning it. Kawade, who resides in the jurisdiction of Ganeshpeth Police Station, discovered the cash near his home on November 6, 2024. The money, bundled with rubber bands, included receipts linked to vegetable sales, pointing to a farmer as the likely owner.
Kawade’s dedication to his duty led him to identify and contact the rightful owner through the details on the receipts. The farmer, identified as Nitin Narayan Bhise, aged 31, from Bhisnur village in Narkhed Taluka, was notified and asked to come to Ganeshpeth Police Station on November 9, 2024, where the entire amount was handed back to him.
Deeply appreciative of Kawade’s honesty and efforts, Bhise offered him a reward as a token of gratitude. However, Kawade respectfully declined, choosing instead to uphold his commitment to integrity and public service.
