Retired scientist Prakash Andhare is once again offering his free wheelchair-accessible car service for voters who use wheelchairs, along with a staircase-climbing wheelchair service for those living on upper floors without lift access. This service will be available on voting day, November 20, under the supervision of district election officers.
The service was also offered in the previous two elections and will once again be available free of charge to voters in need. Those requiring the service can contact Andhare in advance via WhatsApp at 91672 08570 to register, providing their location and details of their disability. The car can transport one wheelchair-bound person to and from the polling booth each hour, enabling approximately 10 individuals to receive assistance over the 10-hour election period. This service covers all six constituencies of Nagpur city and will be supervised by district election officers. Andhare previously served as Deputy Director at the Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute in Pilani, Rajasthan.
