The Maharashtra Government on Thursday directed the State Education Commissioner to authorize school principals to declare holidays on November 17, 18, and 19, as many teachers are expected to be engaged in poll duty.
Polling in the state is set for November 20, with results to follow on November 23. A number of government, local authority, and State-aided schools will be converted into polling stations for the election.
In an effort to maintain impartiality, the Election Commission has arranged for teachers from outside designated polling areas to serve as election officers at the booths. This move aims to reinforce transparency and prevent any local bias during the voting process.
