Vidarbha wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma fetched an impressive ₹11 crore as he was picked by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during the IPL mega auction on Sunday.
Starting with a base price of ₹1 crore, Jitesh attracted bids from Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals before RCB entered the fray at ₹4.6 crore. Punjab Kings (PBKS), who previously held Jitesh, used their Right to Match (RTM) card at ₹7 crore but eventually stepped aside as RCB raised their bid to ₹11 crore to secure the explosive middle-order batter.
Last season, Jitesh served as the vice-captain of Punjab Kings, playing 14 matches. He had also represented Mumbai Indians in the past.
Yash Thakur Joins Punjab Kings for ₹1.6 Crore
Fast bowler Yash Thakur was sold to Punjab Kings for ₹1.6 crore. Thakur, who represented Lucknow Super Giants last season, played 10 matches before recovering from a shin injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He is currently part of Vidarbha’s team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Vizag.
Atharva Taide and Karun Nair Secure Spots
Vidarbha opener and left-handed batter Atharva Taide was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price. Taide, who was with Punjab Kings last season, managed to play only two matches but is now set for a fresh start with SRH.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha professional cricketer Karun Nair was acquired by Delhi Capitals for ₹50 lakh as an uncapped player.
