A Shivshahi bus met with a severe accident near Gondia, claiming at least eight lives and leaving several passengers critically injured on Friday. Rescue operations are underway, with officials fearing the death toll could rise further.
The accident occurred near Khajri and Davwa villages in Sadak Arjuni taluka, Gondia district, as the bus was traveling from Nagpur to Gondia. It reportedly overturned, causing significant casualties. Authorities have recovered 7-8 bodies so far, with police and local officials coordinating rescue and relief efforts at the site.
Caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed grief over the tragedy and announced immediate financial aid of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased. He has also instructed officials to provide urgent medical attention to the injured.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, while efforts to assist the affected passengers continue.
