In a heartbreaking incident in Pune, 35-year-old cricketer Imran Patel passed away due to cardiac arrest while playing a match between Lucky Builders and Young XI at Garware Stadium on Wednesday, November 27. The tragedy unfolded on live television as the game was being broadcasted.
Imran Patel, a professional cricketer known for his exceptional all-round skills, opened the batting for Lucky Builders. After hitting a boundary on the last ball of the sixth over, he began experiencing pain on the left side of his chest. Attempting to ease the discomfort, he removed his gloves and rubbed his chest but soon collapsed to his knees.
The right-handed batter informed the umpires about his discomfort and discussed it with a few opposition fielders. Despite trying to carry on, the pain became too intense. Following the umpires’ suggestion, he notified the opposition captain of his condition. During this time, Imran continued to feel pain on the left side of his chest and was seen shaking his left arm, perhaps believing it to be a muscle strain.
After a while, Imran chose to walk off the field, but as he was heading back, he suddenly collapsed. The fielders quickly rushed to his aid. He was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors tragically declared him dead.
