After an unseasonably warm start to December, winter is making a comeback in Nagpur. The city’s minimum temperature dropped to 12.0°C on Monday, following the clearing of overcast skies that had persisted earlier due to the influence of Cyclone Fengal over South India.
The clearing skies caused a significant 3.2°C drop in minimum temperature from the previous day, when it stood at 16.0°C. The maximum daytime temperature was recorded at 30.2°C. Many residents were seen donning sweaters and warm clothing from the evening onward to brace against the chill.
The temperature fluctuations have been notable this season. In the last week of November, Nagpur registered a steep drop to 12°C, only to see it rise to 20°C during the first week of December. With the skies now clear, meteorologists predict that cooler mornings and evenings will persist, signaling the return of a typical winter atmosphere in the city.
Citizens are advised to prepare for the chill as the winter season gradually intensifies.
