MCA has decided to organise Chess Trainer Camps Across Districts. Nagpur has been one of the major centers of chess in Maharashtra.
Under the aegis of the Maharashtra State Chess Association and the Maharashtra Chess in Schools program, “Train the Trainers” workshops for becoming chess trainers will be conducted in districts like Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nanded, Jalgaon, Thane, Raigad, and others.
The workshop in Nagpur shall be conducted by Ace Coach of Nagpur City Shri Jayant Katdare as Chief Coach with Shiva Iyer as his deputy.
These workshops are one-day programs and include comprehensive training required to become a chess trainer. The sessions will focus on technical skills in chess, the “Chess in Schools” curriculum, and the application of modern technology like the internet and websites in chess training. Students, players, trainers, parents, and sports teachers above the age of 18 can participate in these workshops.
The “Chess in Schools” initiative, conceptualized by Indian Chess Federation’s head coach and Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna awardee Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte, has been successfully implemented by the Maharashtra State Chess Association. The association now plans to reintroduce the initiative with renewed vigor in various schools across Maharashtra in the upcoming academic year. To achieve this, certified trainers are being prepared through these camps.
After the training, participants will undergo an examination. Those who pass will receive the CIS-Certified School Trainer Degree and Certificate from the Maharashtra Chess Association. Starting from the upcoming academic year, these certified trainers will provide chess training to students in schools under the “Chess in Schools” initiative.
Interested individuals can register by paying a registration fee of ₹2,000 online to the Maharashtra Chess Association’s account and register through a Google Form.
