Nagpur: Film producer Amit Dhupe, managing director of 7 Horse Entertainment, was allegedly cheated of ₹30 lakh by Dilip Pandurang Wankhede, a resident of Akola, who falsely promised financial assistance of ₹300 crore for his upcoming film.
Wankhede assured Dhupe that he would arrange ₹2 crore initially and later secure ₹300 crore through political connections. Claiming it as a processing fee, he collected ₹30 lakh but failed to deliver the funds, avoiding Dhupe’s repeated inquiries.
Frustrated, Dhupe approached Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singal, who assigned the case to Senior PI Shubhangi Deshmukh of the Crime Branch. Acting swiftly, Deshmukh traced and arrested Wankhede.
An FIR was registered at Ambazari Police Station, and Senior PI Vinayak Golhe produced the accused in court. Further investigations are underway.
