Jay Sawalakhe of BVM Shrikrishna Nagar School in Boys and Shraddha Bajaj of Narayana Vidyalayam Chinchbhavan school in Girls Group annexed the title of 1st MKH Sancheti Inter School Chess Championship 2024 held at MKH Sancheti Public School, Wardha Road, Hindustan Colony, Nagpur. The event was organised by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation in association with MKH Sancheti Public School which was recognised by Chess Association Nagpur. Jay having FIDE Rating of 1669 scored 8 points out of 8 to finish First among the Boys. Ayush Ramteke of SDA School, Vishwaditya Awasthi of BVM Koradi and Chirag Lahoti of BVM Civil Lines scored 7 points each but were placed 2nd to 4th respectively in the final placing based on their Tie Break Scores. Nihaan Pohane of Mount Carmel Chandrapur finished fifth with 6 ½ points to his credit.
Among the Girls, Shraddha Bajaj was declared Winner with 6 1/2 points. Vritika Game of Somalwar Umiya School also scored 6 1/2 points but was placed Second on the basis of Tie Break Score. Divyanshi Khandelwal of St. Joseph Convent, Aparnita Jagtap of Narayan Vidyalayam Chinchbhavan and Riddhi Agrawal of DPS Kamptee scored 6 points and were placed from 3rd to 5th position based on their tie break scores.
Jay and Shraddha got richer by Rs.3000/- each as first prize of Boys and Girls respectively.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Shri M. Guruswamy IRS, Joint Commissioner, Central GST, Nagpur. Shri Amit Yenurkar, Director, MKH Sancheti Public School and Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur were present on the dias. Shri S.S.Soman conducted the proceedings and proposed vote of thanks. Chief Guest Shri Guruswamy appreciated the efforts of kids participants and their parents for participation in the day long event. Shri Amit Yenurkar, Director MKH Sancheti School acknowledged the response given by chess players and parents to the first event by MKH Sancheti Group and promised to come up with yet another bigger chess event in near future.
The event had attracted 207 entries with 78 FIDE Rated players. Total Cash Prizes of Rs. 30,000/- sponsored by MKH Sancheti Public School were distributed to various winners. Beside Cash Prizes, trophies and medals were also awarded to top 5 in main prize list of boys and girls separately along with age group categories of Under 7,9,11,13 and 15. The Best school prize went to Narayan Vidyalayam Chichbhuvan consisting of players Shraddha Bajaj, Aparnita Jagtap, Arnav Moon and Amoli Pradhan. Second school prize was won by Centre Point School Katol consisting of players Mohak Bhagchandani, Anvit Sontakke, Ridhan Agrawal and Ved Jaiswal.
Team of Arbiters comprising of FA Shiva Iyer, FA Amit Tembhurne, FA Sagar Sakhare, FA Bharati Dhote, SNA Shyam Agrawal, SNA Shrikant Bagde, SNA Prayas Ambade, Prathamesh Machave looked after the conduction of the event.
