A car owned by Marathi actress Urmila Kothare hit two workers near Kandivali in Mumbai, killing one and seriously injuring the other. Urmila and her driver were also hurt in the accident.
The incident happened near Poisar Metro station when Urmila was coming back from a film shoot. The driver lost control of the car and hit the two workers. One worker died at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police said the car was speeding when the accident occurred. They added that Urmila Kothare escaped serious injuries thanks to the timely deployment of the car’s airbags.
A case has been filed against the driver, and the police have started an investigation.
Urmila Kanetkar is a well-known name in the Marathi film industry. She has featured in some popular films like ‘Duniyadaari,’ ‘Shubhmangal Saavdhan,’ and ‘Ti Sadhya Kay Karte’.
She recently grabbed the spotlight on television with the hit show ‘Tujech Mi Geet Gaat Ahe,’ ending a 12-year hiatus with her small-screen comeback.
This accident follows a tragic incident earlier this month in Mumbai. On December 21, a six-year-old boy died from a neck injury after the airbag deployed in a car crash in Navi Mumbai. The boy, seated in the front, was fatally injured when the airbag inflated upon impact.
