Arjundas Ahuja Calls for Urgent Arrest of Thieves Targeting Cloth Market
Following a series of thefts in the Gandhibagh wholesale cloth market, business leaders have urged the police administration to take immediate action to curb the rising incidents of theft in commercial establishments. The recent theft, which saw criminals target three shops in the area, has raised serious concerns among the local business community.
On January 19, 2025, a group of traders, led by Arjundas Ahuja, President of the Chamber, visited the Tehsil Police Station to lodge a formal complaint. The delegation, which included Chamber Secretary Sachin Puniyaani, and other key members from the Wholesale Cloth and Yarn Merchants Association, met with the local police inspector to demand swift action against the perpetrators.
Ahuja emphasized the hard work of traders, who not only support their own families but also contribute to the livelihoods of their employees. He expressed concerns about the rising number of thefts and attacks on business establishments, stating that the safety of traders and their businesses is becoming an increasing issue.
Secretary Sachin Puniyaani also highlighted the ongoing construction work for a bridge on the main road in Gandhibagh, which has led to a parking crisis in the area. He requested that the police take immediate steps to catch the thieves and restore the traders’ faith in the police administration. Puniyaani further urged the authorities to implement proper parking arrangements in busy markets like Gandhibagh.
The meeting was attended by prominent members of the Chamber, including Sushil Jham, Rakesh Gandhi, Mahesh Kukadeja, Manoharlal Ahuja, Rajkumar Gupta, and Manubhai Soni, as well as several other traders.
This call for action was shared in a press release by Assistant Secretary Shabbaar Shaakir.
