Nagpur: In a joint operation, the Crime Branch Unit 5 and the Anti-Narcotics Squad apprehended a suspect in possession of MD powder worth ₹6.57 lakh in the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station. The operation was carried out on Wednesday evening, between 7:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., near Galli No. 3, Kabristan, Hasanbagh.
The accused, identified as Muzaffar Amjan Ali (48), a resident of Hasanbagh, was found carrying 52 grams of MD powder. Along with the narcotics, police seized cash amounting to ₹6,000, a mobile phone, a Royal Enfield motorcycle, and a Suzuki Burgman Street moped.
According to officials, the accused admitted to possessing the banned substance for illegal sale to earn financial benefits. Following his arrest, a case was registered against him under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Nandanvan Police Station.
The accused is currently in custody as investigations continue.
