Nagpur: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has assured the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court that the recarpeting of the runway at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport will be completed by March 31. The matter was heard on Tuesday by Justices Nitin Sambre and Vrushali Joshi.
To expedite the work, AAI informed the court that contractor KG Infrastructure Company has been authorized to operate an additional hot mix plant with a capacity of 160 metric tons per hour. The High Court has directed AAI to submit a detailed affidavit on the project’s progress within two weeks.
Meanwhile, GMR Company has been awarded the contract to upgrade Nagpur Airport to world-class standards, which includes the construction of a proposed second runway. The court has asked GMR to specify the timeline for its completion and submit an affidavit accordingly.
