The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Courses (CUET UG) 2025 is set for a significant revamp based on recommendations from an expert panel constituted by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release application forms soon, enabling candidates to register via the official website.
Key Changes in CUET UG 2025
CBT Mode Only: From 2025, the exam will be conducted exclusively in computer-based test (CBT) mode, replacing the hybrid format used earlier. This shift aims to enhance security and reliability.
Flexible Subject Selection: Students can now opt for subjects in CUET UG even if they were not part of their Class 12 curriculum, offering greater academic flexibility.
Expert Panel Recommendations: A UGC-appointed panel reviewed various aspects of the exam, including paper structure, duration, and syllabus alignment. The recommended changes have been approved and implemented.
UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar emphasized that switching to CBT mode ensures a more secure and reliable exam process. He also highlighted that subject flexibility would allow students to explore interdisciplinary opportunities in higher education.
Earlier editions of CUET UG faced technical issues, including glitches and score normalization challenges in 2022 and last-minute cancellations in 2024. The transition to a full CBT mode aims to eliminate these disruptions and provide a smoother exam experience.
With these reforms, CUET UG 2025 aims to create a fair and student-friendly admission process. Candidates are advised to stay updated on the NTA website for official notifications and application details.
