The city witnessed two murders on the night of Thursday, February 20, in separate incidents reported under Imamwada and Yashodhara Nagar Police Station limits. One victim was killed in a gang-related clash, while the other was fatally stabbed during a wedding celebration.
In the first case, Sonu alias Deepak Vijay Wasnik was murdered in Rambagh under Imamwada Police Station. While the motive remains unclear, police have detained one suspect, while two others are absconding. A probe is underway to determine the cause of the attack.
In another incident, 24-year-old Vihang Manish Rangari, a resident of Teka Naka, Manav Nagar, was killed during a wedding in Bhilgaon under Yashodhara Nagar Police Station. A fight erupted between two groups at the event, and as Vihang tried to mediate, accused Birju Deepak Wardhwe (30) and his associates attacked him with a knife, killing him on the spot.
Police have launched investigations into both cases and are searching for the absconding accused. Further details are awaited.
