The Food & Drugs Administration (FDA), Government of Maharashtra, has urged citizens to exercise caution while purchasing and consuming food items during Maha Shivaratri on Wednesday.
With a surge in demand for fasting foods, several roadside vendors and shops sell ready-to-eat items, increasing the risk of food adulteration. The FDA has advised people to be vigilant about food quality and hygiene while making purchases.
While fasting is observed for spiritual purification, it also offers physical and mental health benefits. Officials have recommended opting for nutritious and wholesome foods instead of processed items or those high in sugar and fat to maintain overall well-being.
