The Maharashtra Women and Child Development Department detected 1229 beneficiaries of the ‘Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana’ in Nagpur district having a four-wheeler in their families.
Scrutiny of the application forms is being carried out through the Anganwadi Sevikas, across the state. The scheme benefitted the BJP-led Mahayuti in the Assembly elections. However, as the scrutiny started many applicants withdrew their names fearing legal action.
The survey to detect non-eligible applicants was temporarily halted as the surveyors did not get their honorarium. The survey is expected to begin again, as the government has released the amount to be paid to the Anganwadi Sevikas.
According to information available 1221 non-eligible applicants were from Katol tehsil, five from Narkhed, and one each from Kalmeshwar, Saoner, and Nagpur Rural.
When the scheme was launched the same Anganwadi Sevikas were deputed to help the applicants in submitting the forms.
